Junji Amano

Japanese , 1949 -

A painter and printmaker, Amano was born in 1949 in the Tottori Prefecture of Japan. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Tama Art University in 1976 and had since enjoyed an international career as an artist. He has won several awards at international exhibitions, including the first prize at San Francisco MOMA in 1977 and premio internationale at the Print Biennale in Venice in 1988. Amano has held solo shows in San Francisco, Philedelphia, Tokyo and Kobe and actively participates in workshops and international fellowships, recently including a residency at the University of Pennsylvania
