Mark Adams

American , 1925 - 2006

An American painter and printmaker, Mark Adams also made stained glass windows and tapestries. He was born in Fort Plain, NY in 1925. Adams was a student at Syracuse University, Hans Hoffman School of Fine Arts, New York, Columbia University and the École National d'Art Decoratif, France (1955).

Adams taught extensively from 1961-1978 at the San Francisco Art Institute, the American Academy of Rome as a Painter in Residence and at the University of California as a Distinguished Visiting Professor.

Adams has had several selected solo exhibitions from 1957-1994, including the San Franciso Museum of Art in 1964, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 1971 and the Fresno Arts Center Mark Adams in 1989.
