Solomon van Abbe

Dutch/English , 1883 - 1955

A prolific printmaker, Solomon van Abbe is most famous for his illustrated dust jackets of popular books from the 1920s and 1930s. He worked on the cover for, among others, Agatha Christie's The Mystery of the Blue Train in 1928. Later in his career he illustrated several children's books including Treasure Island and Little Women.
