Nicolas Beatrizet was born in Luneville ca.1515. He worked in Venice and later, in Rome as a reproductive engraver for Salamanca and Lafreri from 1540 to 1565. He usually signed his works “N.B. Lot”, “Beatricius”, or “Beatricetto Lotharingus”.
In 1562 he completed a reproduction in copper of Michelangelo’s “Last Judgement”. He also engraved many complex book illustrations, including those for Ippolito Salviani. Beatrizet died in Rome in 1565.
