Peter Troschel

German , 1620 - 1680

Peter Troschel was the son of the more famous engraver, Hans Troschel. He is known to have worked in Nuremberg from about 1640 to sometime after 1670.

His prints are signed with the initials “P.T.” although unsigned prints exist which appear to be in his style, particularly of fireworks subjects, where the fireworks themselves are rendered to look like spider chrysanthemums atop long wavery stems. The sky is done entirely in parallel horizontal lines without cross-hatching, but with occasional white dashes and hilly backgrounds in two diagonal cross- hatchings.
