Robert Stackhouse

American , 1942 -

Born in New York, Robert Stackhouse received an MFA from the University of Maryland. He has held visiting artist positions at: School of The Art Institute of Chicago; Portland Center for the Visual Arts; Ohio State University; University of the Arts, Philadelphia; San Antonio Art Institute; and the Cleveland Institute of Art.

He uses archetypal subjects such as the Viking ship or the A-frame house to explore themes of passage, transition and spirituality. His compositions are at once ancient and modern, crafted and ephemeral. They manifest an evocative openness, inviting each viewer to become part of the piece.
