Tom Slaughter

American , 1955 - 2014

Born in 1955, Tom Slaughter’s career began in 1983 with his first exhibition at the Drawing Center in New York City. Since then, there have been more than 30 solo exhibitions of his work in cities including New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Vancouver, Cologne and Fukuoka, Japan. He has worked as a print maker in collaboration with Durham Press for 25 years and his editions are included in the collections of the MOMA and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He has published eleven illustrated children’s books including 123, One Some Many, Over Under, ABC x 3, and most recently Do You Know Which Ones will Grow? a 2011 Notable American Library Association book of the year. His books have been translated in six languages. He was the Art Director for the New Victory Theater in New York for eight seasons from 2007-2014, producing the posters, graphics, playbills and billboards. As a designer he has created everything form T-Shirts to skateboard decks , iphone cases and beach towels well as wallpaper for Cavern Home. Slaughter served on the board of directors of MOMA PS1 as well as the Public Theater.
