Painter and printmaker, Susan Shatter has been exhibiting her work since 1972. She studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture before receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute and a Master of Fine Arts from Boston University. She has had eighteen solo exhibitions and numerous group shows.
Shatter has been the recipient of two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, an Ingram- Merrill Award, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, a Bunting Fellowship and a Massachusetts Council for the Arts Grant.
Shatter is a member of the National Academy of Design and has served on the Board of Governors of the Skowhegan School since 1979. In 1999 and 2003 Shatter received a Childe Hassam Purchase Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
