Georges Barbier

French , 1882 - 1932

Georges Barbier was a well-known French illustrator, whose style exhibits characteristics of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, movements that were popular during the beginning of the twentieth century. He is known for his book illustrations, his costume and jewelry designs, and his fashion illustrations. Among his many notable achievements were his costume and set designs for the Folies Bergere. He died an untimely death at the height of his career.
