Walter Alexander Bailey

Etcher, illustrator and painter, Walter Alexander Bailey was born in 1894 in Wallula, Kansas. He studied at the Kansas City Art Institute with Thomas Hart Benton, John D. Patrick and Charles Wilimovsky. He was the Editor and Art Director of the “Kansas City Times” from 1917 to 1927 and then a studio and newspaper artist in California. He was also a noted muralist and landscape painter.

Two of Bailey’s murals are at the William Rockhill Nelson Gallery of Art and four of his murals are at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City. Bailey was a member of the Kansas City Society of Artists.
