John William Hill
Printmaker and painter - born in London on January 13, 1812, the son of the English/American engraver John Hill. He arrived in America with his family in 1919 and served as an apprentice to his father. He was later employed by Smith Brothers who published his drawings of American cities in lithographs during the 1850's. He died at his home in West Nyack, N.Y. on September 24, 1879.
