The Richard Hamilton Acquisition Prize sponsored by Champion & Partners
Funded through the generous support of Champion & Partners, the Richard Hamilton Acquisition Prize provides up to $10,000 to support a museum's purchase at the Fair. The British Museum was the recipient of the 2013 prize which funded their purchase of a 1985 linocut by Ida Applebroog entitled American Medical Association I as well as a collection of the artist's self-published offset books entitled A Performance, 1977-1981.
In naming the prize, Champion & Partners pays tribute to the artist Richard Hamilton, who inspired their own appreciation of prints, and his profound influence on printmaking. It was conceived to enable museums to acquire significant prints for their collections and to inspire individual collectors by illustrating the profusion of affordable museum quality works on offer at the IFPDA Print Fair.
The British Museum was the recipient of the 2013 Richard Hamilton Acquisition Prize.
Institutions who wish to be considered for 2014 may make their request in writing to the IFPDA Foundation. The 2014 award will be announced at the Fair's Opening Preview on November 5.
