(born 1945)
A native of Beaumont, Texas and for some time a resident of the Hamptons on Long Island, John Alexander is an artist with a naturalist's eye. His prints and paintings reveal both close observation and very personal engagement with his subjects -- most often flora and fauna.
Alexander received his B.F.A. from Lamar University in 1968 and his M.F.A. from Southern Methodist University in 1970. He was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts grant in 1981 and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in 1984. He lives and works in New York City and Amagansett, New York.
