Dominique Vivant Denon

Denon was revered by his peers, particularly the King of France, Louis XV. Napoleon appointed him Director of the Louvre in 1798, a post he maintained for three years. His artistic oeuvre includes paintings, drawings, etchings and mezzotints. In addition to working as an artist, he was also an author and diplomat.
