Maestro del Dado

Italian (1530–1535)

Anonimous Italian engraver, so called because he signed his work with a single letter “B” enclosed in a die and hence was given the nickname “Master of die”.

His style followed Marcantonio Raimondi and the Bartsch catalogue lists 85 etchings mostly on sacred and mythological themes, often based on subject matter by Raffaello.
