Mark Adams

American (born 1925)

An American painter and printmaker, Mark Adams also made stained glass windows and tapestries. He was born in Fort plain, NY in 1925. Adams studied at Syracuse University (1943-1945), Hans Hoffman School of Fine Arts, New York (1945-1947), Columbia University (1947) and the École National d'Art Decoratif, France (1955).

Adams taught extensively from 1961-1978 at the San Francisco Art Institute, the American Academy of Rome as a Painter in Residence and at the University of California as a Distinguished Visiting Professor.

Adams has had several selected solo exhibitions from 1957-1994, including the San Franciso Museum of Art in 1964, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 1971 and the Fresno Arts Center Mark Adams in 1989, to name a few.
