David Becker was born in 1937. He attended the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1956 to 1958 and the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee in 1961. Becker graduated from the University of Illinois-Urbana with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Printmaking in 1965.
He uses meticulous detail in his etched and engraved prints to reveal the frankness of human decadence and dissipation.
