Born in 1868, Max Slevogt studied at the Munich Academy. He then went to Berlin where he became a professor. With Liebermann and Corinth, Slevogt was one of the German Impressionists. A prolific printmaker and illustrator of books, he was one of the giants of German art in the first half of the 20th century.
