Roberto Juarez

Born in Chicago, Roberto Juarez completed his artistic and cinematic training at the San Francisco Art Institute and the University of California, Los Angeles in the late 1970s. He has exhibited widely, including a 2003 retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami and recent group shows at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Bronx Museum and Fine Arts Collection, University of California, Davis. A versatile painter and printmaker, Juarez gravitates towards pre-Columbian and non-Western traditions, as well as botanical themes. In his etchings, Juarez lays down expressionistic strokes over newspaper print, to achieve abstract, yet organic forms.
