Anton Henning b. 1964 in Berlin.
Lives and works in Manker and Berlin. For the German artist Anton Henning the print has the same status as painting, photography and sculpture – just another medium in an art practice where artistic and art historical conventions are cultivated only to be subsequently put on display, ironized and directly ridiculed. Henning nudges playfully yet carefully at genres as classical as the still life and self-portrait. These provide an effective basis for Henning’s challenge to the object as aesthetic material, and his comical satire on the artist as contemporary paradox and antihero.
