Rudolph Ruzicka

Czech , 1883 - 1978

Born in Bohemia in 1883, Rudolph Ruzicka emigrated to the United States ten years later. He became an apprentice wood engraver in Chicago, later studying at the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1903 he moved to New York City and worked on engraving projects while attending the Art Students League and the New York School of Art. A book designer, etcher, and type face designer, Ruzicka's work has been widely exhibited.
