Mildred Howard

American , 1945 -

Mildred Howard is interested in reviving historical experiences through her immersive installations. Her work is inspired by the civil rights movement, collective memory, and the global migrations of peoples as a universal experience. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Alameda Women’s Hall of Fame. Her large scale installations were commissioned by Creative Time, the San Francisco Arts Commission, and the New Museum, among others.
