Howard Daum

Poland , 1918 - 1988

Daum emigrated from Poland when he was 14 to Canada with his mother, and later moved to New York. In the 1940s, after working for many years as a painter, Daum began to study printmaking at Stanley Willam Hayter's Atelier 17. His prints reflect the influence of Pablo Picasso as well as other modernist aesthetics, and Daum's personal interest in Native American culture.
