Alan Crane

American , 1901 - 1969

Alan Crane was born in 1901 in Brooklyn, New York. He studied at the Pratt Institute with Winold Weiss and went on to study and practice stage design with Richard Boleslawsky at the American Laboratory Theater.

A noted printmaker, he produced numerous illustrations for books and magazines. Crane is best remembered for his series of lithographs on New England.
