Alfredo Castañeda was born in 1938 in Mexico City. In 1964 he received a degree in architecture from the University of Mexico and his first one- man show was held at the Galería de Arte Mexicano in 1969. His first solo exhibition in the United States took place in 1983 at Mary-Anne Martin/Fine Art, which has represented him in the U. S. since then. In 1990 a retrospective of his work was held at the Monterrey Museum in Mexico and during the same year a monograph celebrating twenty years of his work was published.
Among his prints are “Jugar a la Vida”, “Nosotros, Mas la Mitad de Nosotros” and “A Flor de Piel”. His works are included in private collections in Mexico, Latin America, the United States, Europe and Japan. Castañeda currently lives and works in Madrid.
