Colen Campbell

Scottish , 1676 - 1729

Campbell trained initially to be a lawyer, but eventually went into architecture. He is credited with the Palladian revival in England in the 18th century and is often called the founder of Gregorian style architecture. His significant contribution to print culture was a series of drawings and designs of building facades, elevations and plans, which were bound together in several volumes of the famed Vitruvius Britainnicus.
