Bartolomeo Biscaino

Italian , 1632 - 1657

An Italian painter, printmaker and draftsman, Biscaino was first trained by his father as a landscape painter. He entered the workshop of Valerio Castello in the late 1640s and under his master's guidance, distinguished himself as an artist. He was also influenced by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione and is best known for his drawings and prints, namely "The Judgement of Midas". Biscaino's life was cut short by the plague in 1657.
