Anders Zorn

Swedish , 1860 - 1920

Swedish painter, etcher and sculptor, Anders Zorn was born in Mora in 1860. Raised by his grandparents, he displayed a great talent for drawing and was admitted, at the age of 15, to the preparatory class of the Kungliga Akademi för de Fria Konsterna in Stockholm. Dissatisfied with outdated teaching and discipline of the Academy, he left in 1881, to try and establish an international career.

He lived in London and traveled extensively in France, Spain, Algeria, Italy, the Balkans and Constantinople, spending most of his summers in his homeland, Sweden.
