For over 20 years, Janet Yake has been working, primarily in monotype. She graduated from Smith College in 1947 and completed graduate work at Cooper Union. She also studied printmaking at the Pratt Graphic Center. In 1998, she received a Pollack-Krasner Foundation Grant, which enabled her to further explore this unique method of printmaking.
Yake’s renderings of interiors are commonly dominated by floral arrangements, colorful fabrics and table settings. Her first solo exhibition was in 1988 at the Fitch- Febvrel Gallery and the following year, she had her first solo exhibition overseas in Tokyo.
