Robert Bechtle

American , 1932 -

Born in San Francisco, CA in 1932, Bechtle started drawing at a young age and with encouragement from teachers and family, pursued a career as an artist. He attended the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, where for four years, he studied Graphic Design. After his graduate work in painting, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Art and a Master's degree in Fine Art.

Bechtle began exhibiting his work in 1957 and has been included in exhibitions in some of America's most prestigious institutions, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
