Born in Massachusetts, William Wegman received a B.F.A. from the Massachusetts College of Art, and a M.F.A. from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He currently lives and works in New York. He is primarily known for his clever and satirical portraits of his Weimaraner dogs, Man Ray and Fay Ray. Wegman has photographed a generation of these dogs in a variety of humorous and elegant costumed portraits. Trained as a painter, Wegman's prints, drawings and paintings exhibit the same creativity and intelligence as his photographs.
