Herman Armour Webster
Herman Armour Webster was born in New York in 1878. He studied at Yale University and then went to Paris in 1900 where he studied at the Academy Julian under Bracquemond, Béjot and Laurens, receiving the very best training possible in the art of etching. He traveled extensively in Europe with Donald Shaw MacLaughlin, producing superb etchings. Webster returned to the United States frequently where he exhibited widely. He received numerous awards and honors including being made an officer of the French Legion d’Honneur.
