Jean-Pierre Velly's engravings, including a series of minutely detailed, apocalyptic panoramas, profoundly influenced Phillipe Mohlitz and the French etching movement of the 1970s and 80s.

Career: From 1967 to 1970 Velly worked at the French Academy in Rome (Villa Medici's, receiving the Grand Prix des Envois de Rome at the Petit Palais in Paris for his work there in 1970.

Awards:In 1966 Velly was awarded the Premier Grand Prix de Rome for Intaglio.
