Robert Therrien was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1947. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California in 1971 and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California in 1974.
Therrien is primarily known as a sculptor, although he has also worked in painting, drawing printmaking and photography. Inspired by objects in the everyday world, he reinterprets and recycles images in a process of unending adjustments. Therrien uses themes and objects that can be somehow traced back to his personal history.
In 1996, Therrien produced “No Title (Doors)”, an aquatint printed in colors on wove paper and in 1998 he produced a series of embossed prints with paint called “Untitled Portfolio”.
