Born in Osaka, Japan in 1933, Ryohei Tanaka is one of Japan’s foremost etchers. He studied under Yoshio Furuno. First commissioned in 1965, Tanaka has been the recipient of numerous awards in Japan, Yugoslavia and America. His etchings are widely known for their fine detail and subtle aquatinting. Tanaka exhibited with the CWAJ Japanese contemporary print show in Tokyo for almost 40 years. Tanaka depicts mainly farmhouses and rural scenes of Japan.
