Sadahide

Japanese , 1807 - 1873

Sadahide Utagawa’s original name was Hashimoto and he was a pupil of Kunisada. Best known are his Yokohama- e- prints from the Western enclave of Yokohama depicting scenes of Westerners. During his time, Sadahide was among the top appreciated designers. His works were displayed in the World Exhibition in Paris in 1866 at the Japanese pavilion with the works of other artists of renown, such as Zeshin Shibata.
