Ono Bakufu

Japanese , 1888 - 1976

A Japanese printmaker, Bakufu was born in Tokyo in 1888 and moved to Kansai after the 1923 earthquake. He was an honorary member of the Hyogo prefecture Academy of Fine Arts and a member of Taiheiyogakai.

Bakufu specialized in images of plants and animals and made quite a few landscapes. The artist's main oeuvre was a series of prints showing Japanese fish, "Dai Nihon gyorui gashu".
