Mel Pekarsky

American , 1934 -

Born in 1934, Mel Pekarsky studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University. He is a founding member and executive vie-president of City Walls, Inc., an artist-founded and run public art corporation, which evolved into New York’s Public Art Fund.

Pekarsky has been a consultant to public art projects in New Jersey and Atlanta. He has received grants from the Bernhard Foundation, the Kaplan Fund, the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, the New York State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
