Georgia Marsh was born in Olean, New York in 1950. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1972. She spent the previous year in Rome, as part of her participation in the European honors program. From 1973 to 1981, Marsh lived in Paris.
During the past decade she has received many honors and awards, including fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, an NEA international fellowship through the La Napoule Foundation in France and a Pollock/Krasner Foundation Fellowship. She has participated in a number of group and solo shows in France, Italy and the United States.
