Chloe Piene (b. USA) lives and works in New York and Berlin. She is known for her delicate charcoal figure drawings and her provocative video installations. Piene has a BA from Columbia University and a MFA from Goldsmiths College, London. She has had solo shows at Klemens Gasser & Tanja Grunert, Inc., New York; Galerie Barbara Thumm, Berlin; Carré d’Art—Musée d’Art Contemporain, Nîmes; Witte de With, Rotterdam; and Kunsthalle Bern, Bern. Piene has participated in group exhibitions at Charim Gallery, Vienna; Franklin Parrasch Gallery, New York; Tramway, Glasgow; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; and the Aldrich Museum, Ridgefield, CT. She also participated in the 2004 Whitney Biennial. Her work has been placed in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; and Sammlung Hoffmann, Berlin.
